Alean- In 2020, Maya was studying nursing at GCU, while Alean was back in Sacramento pursuing a biology degree. Alean, an introvert by nature, wasn't keen on socializing and often preferred staying in. However, one of his best friends, who he had grown up with, was celebrating a birthday in Phoenix. Unknowingly to Alean, this friend also happened to be Maya's classmate in the same nursing cohort. To make matters even more interesting, Alean's best man was dating the birthday celebrant. He really wanted Alean to attend the party and begged him repeatedly. After little persuasion, Alean finally agreed to go. On the night of February 8, 2020, Alean found himself falling in love. Maya- Maya was attending GCU when one of her cohort classmates invited her to a birthday party. Maya, along with some other friends from the same cohort, decided to attend. That night, after one interaction with Alean, she never could have predicted what would come next. On February 8, 2020, Maya's first impression of Alean was anything but positive—she thought he was rude, at least in that moment. But as the time went on, something shifted. Over the next year, Maya and Alean stayed in touch, caught in that uncertain "talking stage." At first, Maya tried to distance herself, even ghosting him a bit, but his consistent effort and patience eventually made history.
