She lived by the ocean. He lived on a lake. Both were stuck in their stances, but there was a shared love of water uniting their spirits. So for their first date, they decided on the obvious activity: walking through the woods in Dracut state park. While walking and talking through the forest (with James doing most of the talking), strong arguments were made in favor of the lake life, and Maya agreed to go investigate James’ claims. Upon arriving at James’ house, they quickly set out to explore Lake Quinsigamond by canoe. Once they were out in the water James revealed that there was a private island owned by his landlords that they could go to. Their canoe soon scraped the rocky, sandy bottom of the beach as they pulled up on the shore of the island. Lush green trees in full bloom were hanging overhead, providing much needed shade from the hot Memorial Day sun. As they stepped ashore, they walked along winding pathways through the undergrowth leading to various scenic outlook locations. The lake life was more beautiful and majestic than Maya could ever have imagined. It was at this point she decided to make the moves on James. Maya sat down on the bench besides James, with her thigh slightly touching his. James, trying to play it cool, looked away and immediately lost his train of thought. No, that is not where they shared their first kiss, but that is where their love began to blossom in unison with all the emerging flowers on the island. A lot of time has passed, and James has since left his lake house to live with Maya by the ocean. They fondly remember their adventures on the lake and how their love grew with each paddle to and from the island. On May 24th they returned to the island where their love started in order to vow to love each other forever through a small, intimate wedding ceremony.
