How We Met

Max and Taylor met on Cinco de Mayo, 2013. Taylor was bartending at a certain Tex-Mex restaurant near the University of Texas campus. A senior at UT herself, Taylor was expecting to be barraged by an obnoxious wave of boat-shoes-wearing college students. However, she did not count on a slightly less obnoxious and significantly more charming grad student to sit at her bar. While the exact details are hotly debated, one reliable source recalls the events. Max had just been telling the friend he arrived with just how cute he thought their bartender was when he luckily overheard Taylor give her name to a co-worker. Taking his chance, Max asked 'Excuse me, Taylor, can I have a margarita?". Giving the international sign for wait-a-damn-minute, Taylor held a finger in the air and then gestured to another bar guest replying "He's next". Far from deterred, Max felt even more emboldened and proceeded to spend the next six hours at Taylor's bar taking every chance he could to talk to her. They found a mutual interest in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" books by George R. R. Martin, although they did disagree on how dead many characters were. As the bar was closing, Max asked if Taylor wanted to go to a Sushi Bar and sing Karaoke with him next week. Giving Taylor his number on the back of his receipt, both left that night thinking they may have just found someone very special.
