We met the night of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, New York Rangers vs Tampa Bay Lightning. We were both invited by Max's brother Danny to go to Harrington's in New York City, a bar just outside of the garden. The Rangers lost 2-0 that night in a crushing loss but our mutual love of hockey and the New York Rangers has been a major pillar of our relationship ever since!
The morning before we got engaged I woke up with a horrible cold. Max did everything he could, bought every medication from the drug store, so that we could make it to our dinner plans that night. I thought we were just having an early birthday dinner so I was willing to cancel and stay in bed all day! I ended up feeling a little better so we got dinner at Pairings and Palette in Cranford. When we got back to our apartment Max got down on one knee in our kitchen when it was just him and I (he knows I would not have wanted to been the center of attention at the restaurant) and asked me to marry him. I obviously said yes and afterwards Max surprised me with a bar full of our closest friends and family to celebrate! It was such an amazing night I didn't even remember that I didn't feel well. Being in a room full of our best friends was the best cold cure (the ring helped too).
