How did we meet?

January 2020

Max and Alexia met in sophomore year architecture studio (end of January 2020) at the University of Hartford. They were both in Fuller’s class and Max picked a desk next to Alexia.

Who made the first move?

"Hey Hey, you you, I could be your girlfriend"

Max and Alexia quickly grew close pretty quickly having studio together three days a week, for 4 hour long classes. One day Alexia took Max's notebook when he wasn't looking. She wrote some lyrics from Avril Lavigne's song "Girlfriend" in Max's notebook. That night Max found what Alexia wrote and snapchatted her asking if she wanted to get lunch together before studio the next day.

It became official!

03.28.2020

We were just sent home for COVID when Alexia invited Max over to her house in Middletown. They spent the day checking out some of Alexia's favorite spots in town and ended the day with Max asking Alexia to be his girlfriend.

Apart for 10 weeks

Summer of 2022

Max spent 10 weeks studying abroad in Italy for the accelerated Master's program. Halfway into the trip, Alexia booked a 10 day trip to visit Max! Together they saw Florence, Vicenza, Venice, and Rome. They both also got matching tattoos of the Florence Duomo which is a double layered dome that is accessible to climb to the top.

Engagement Story

01.04.2025

Max and Alexia have been wanting to plan another trip to Europe to see Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. On Thanksgiving 2024, Max's family heard about their plans for the following fall and told them to plan the trip this year over new years! Max and Alexia were easily convinced and booked tickets to London's New Year's Eve fireworks show. Once we had those tickets we booked our flights and the rest fell into place! Alexia persuaded Max that they might as well also stop by Paris since they would be crossing over France to get to Spain. Max then knew this was the right time to propose to Alexia. Many people, Alexia included, were wondering if Max was planning something special. With the help of Alexia's parent's Max was able to contact a photographer in Paris to do a photoshoot the morning of the proposal. Alexia felt like Max would have either proposed the night before on the dinner cruise or in Sagrada Familia once they were in Barcelona. This was the perfect time for Max to pop the question, it was early enough in the morning where they were the only people down by the river. It was beautiful
