Max and Shanna had their first encounter at Nationals Park in September 2014. Max organized the group since it was Peace Corps night. The game got rained out, so after Shanna paid Max for her ticket, he left to go eat Chinese food...by himself. Shanna thought she would never see him again, but little did she know that was just the beginning... Fast forward a few months to November, right around Thanksgiving, when they were both invited to a mutual friend's birthday brunch. Shanna remembered Max from the game, however Max had no clue who she was (great start, right?). Fortunately, they hit it off and before the end of the night, Max asked Shanna for her number and the rest is history!

Shanna was in Baltimore for the morning and on her way home received a call from Max to meet him at their favorite park where they take Benji frequently. Shanna agreed and stopped by the house on the way to grab water, snacks, and a blanket. The set up: the weather was gorgeous that day - the sun was out and it was a breezy, low 70s kind of day. It was a perfect day (for a proposal)! According to Max, he actually had no idea how he was going to set up the question. Thankfully, Shanna decided to take Benji on the other side of the park to play with another dog. When Shanna returned, Max conveniently stood up (a little awkwardly), took Shanna's left hand, and then started to caress her ring finger....Yes. He totally gave himself away. Shanna decided to let it play out, of course, so she suggested they sit back down. This is when Max decided to take his shot, get down on one knee and pop the question! Honestly, Shanna had NO IDEA it was actually going to happen. Both of them blacked out. There were fireworks. Shanna said YES. It was magical! Max proceeded to retrieve a bag with champagne and flutes from out of the bushes to help celebrate - so sneaky, right?
