The Wedding Website of Rosemary Robinson and Maximino Caballero Gomez
Tarragona is a historic port city in Catalonia, Spain, located on the Costa Daurada. It's most famous for its remarkably well-preserved Roman ruins, many of which are designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. Beyond its ancient past, Tarragona boasts beautiful beaches, a lively old town with charming narrow streets, and a vibrant local culture. It offers a fantastic blend of history, sun, and authentic Spanish life, often feeling a bit less crowded than its northern neighbor, Barcelona.

Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN)

Although you can fly into almost any major city in Spain and catch a train to Tarragona, we recommend flying into Barcelona.

Train

Barcelona to Tarragona Train

The train journey is efficient and comfortable, taking as little as 30-35 minutes on the fastest high-speed services (AVE, AVANT, OUIGO, iryo) or around 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes on regional trains (Renfe Regional Express). Arrival Stations in Tarragona There are two main train stations in Tarragona: Tarragona (city center station): This is the regional train station, located right in the heart of Tarragona. If your wedding venue or accommodations are within the city, this is likely the most convenient arrival point. Regional trains stop here. Camp de Tarragona (high-speed station): This station is located about 10-15 kilometers (6-9 miles) outside the city center. High-speed trains (AVE, AVANT, OUIGO, iryo) arrive here. From Camp de Tarragona, guests will need to take a local bus or taxi to reach the city center. How to Buy Train Tickets Online: The easiest way to book is through the official Spanish rail operator Renfe (renfe.com) or through platforms like Trainline.com or Omio.com. Booking in advance often secures better prices. At the Station: Tickets can also be purchased directly at Barcelona Sants station from ticket counters or self-service machines.
