How We Met

Let's go all the way back to 2010...

Sarah and Maximilian may have not started dating until college, but they actually first met in grade school! In fact, they even had to sell chocolate bars together outside of Giant Eagle one weekend (well, Max did all the selling). They finally reconnected in college at Ohio State after they ran into each other a few times. During freshman year, they studied for their favorite class, Gen Chem, together. Sophomore year, they hung out at Buckeyethon (dance marathon) in February. But it wasn't until Junior year, 2017, where fate finally brought them together. Romantically, Max invited Sarah to his frat party at Fiji. The party was a Friday night in September and they stayed up all night talking to each other. That same Monday, they went on a date to The Eagle, which is still one of their favorite Short North restaurants to this day. A couple days later on Thursday, they went to a haunted house, and on Saturday they tailgated and went to the Buckeye game together. They just couldn't get enough of each other and well... the rest is history (:

She Said Yes!

Straight out of a dream…

During December of 2022, Sarah and Maximilian took their second European trip together. They traveled through Switzerland, Austria and Italy - each day was filled with memories to last a lifetime. But, the best day of them all was December 28th, 2022. It started off as a normal day on the trip - Sarah and Max hopped on a train and made their way to their next destination, Hallstatt, Austria. This historical and picturesque town sits on crystal waters surrounded by the mountains. They spent the afternoon hiking up to the top of the mountain to walk on the famous outlook platform and take in the best views. Many visitors opt to take a cable car ride to the top, but Sarah and Max decided they wanted to question their life choices and hike to the top of a mountain in the Alps. After reaching the top and Sarah was able to catch her breath, they enjoyed the most spectacular views and some hot cocoa. You may think this is obviously where he would pop the question - but he didn’t. After descending the mountain (which was much easier going down), Max told Sarah to take a shower and get ready for their dinner reservation. Sarah picked out Max’s outfit for the evening and Max picked out Sarah’s dress. They then took off for dinner, stopping at a park along the way. This park was a little further outside city center and away from the hustle and bustle. As the sun was setting, Max and Sarah found the themselves the only people in this waterfront park. Max kept checking behind him to make sure there were no people around and the moment was just right. Then he asked Sarah to take some pictures of the mountains, making sure to get the cable car going up to the top (you know, the one they didn’t take earlier). As she turned back around, Max was on one knee. It was the most intimate moment filled with (many) tears of joy and certainly one they will never forget. They celebrated with a traditional Austrian meal and wine that night and later called their loved ones on FaceTime to share the news.
