August 2012, Chelsea and Max had both decided to study abroad in one of the most romantic cities on earth, Florence, Italy. Max was walking home from one of his first adventures in the city with a close friend and saw Chelsea step out of the car with her grandparents ( later to be known by him as Omi and Fernando ) with two huge pieces of luggage. Max asked Chelsea where she was staying and pointed to the same apartment building that Max was assigned! Unbeknownst to Chelsea, the apartment did not have an elevator and she was located on the 3rd floor. Once hearing this, Max chivalrously offered to carry up her bags to the apartment (up 4 long flights of stairs.) After Max tried to fake not being winded with the crushing weight of Chelsea's luggage, they started talking and their friendship grew! They found out they were both from the Bay Area! They kept in contact and began to date once Chelsea finished at Cal Poly. Now we are here to celebrate their union!
On a vacation to Europe with Nicole and James, and after months of planning, it was time for Max to propose to Chelsea. Initially, he wanted to propose where they met in Florence, but he was too anxious to carry/hide the ring for that long. After talking with Nicole, he realized there was a beautiful vista opportunity when they visited Ravello. The gang was going to visit Villa Cimbrone in Ravello and Max told the team it was the day. After sweating bullets and eating lightly ( very uncharacteristic of Max ) James and Max scouted out locations while walking in the gardens. After giving James the signal, Max went next to Chelsea and began being sappy and rambling ( two things Chelsea is not fond of ). While looking over the coast line, Max popped the question to Chelsea and we all celebrated!
