We met through an online dating app as we were both drawn to one another's smile. When we started chatting, Max was in Wisconsin and Marie was in Silverthorne, both visiting with family as it was winter break. We were excited to have a little free time between semesters and as soon as we were back in town we planned to meet up for a hike for our first date at Chataqua in Boulder on 1/2/19. We enjoyed each other's company so much that we extended the date to have a beer and fries at Southern Sun. On that first date we exchanged book recommendations and it was apparent that we had a shared love of learning and many other values. Taking advantage of our time off, we spent time together almost daily. For Max's birthday weekend a couple weeks later he came along on a weekend trip to Breckenridge to play board games, ski, and get to know some of Marie's friends. We both credit that weekend as the time we realized we were falling in love!
Max had been carrying around the ring in his pocket for a while waiting for the right moment and decided one Monday (4/19) that that was the night. Marie was visiting at a friend's house and stayed later than anticipated and drove home through a spring snow storm. When she finally got home after 9:00 p.m. Max had all the lights off and candles and flowers leading up the stairs into the living room where a cozy fire was burning in the fireplace. He got down on one knee and asked "Will you marry me?" Without any hesitation Marie happily said "YES!" The two enjoyed a bottle of sparkling rosé from the Gruet winery in New Mexico that they'd bought the previous December. They had to wait to call their families the next day because it was already so late on a Monday night!
We do not have a traditional registry, as we are living in a condo and have everything we need for now! We sincerely appreciate your well wishes and love and excitement you've shared with us. Having such wonderful friends and family in our lives is the greatest gift we could ever ask for! However, many of you have asked if we have a registry. We set up a Honeyfund account, which allows you to contribute to our honeymoon experiences or gift cards we can use in the future for home needs as they arise. We will be traveling to Puerto Rico before the demands of the new school year start up in early August. We both love traveling and have dreamed of all the journeys we'd love to take together. The pandemic put a damper on those dreams last year so we are really looking forward to our first trip as a married couple! Thank you for helping send us on a spectacular honeymoon!
