It all began in 2020 with a few flirty glances across an emergency room in Southern California. Max was in his intern year of psychiatry residency, and Maddie was in X-ray tech school, both busy, a little shy, and not quite ready to admit they were intrigued. Eventually, with a little help from mutual friends, Max asked Maddie out, and what started as curiosity quickly turned into something so much more. They planned their first date… and then, like life tends to do, the world had other ideas. The COVID lockdown began the day before they were supposed to meet. But love found a way...even then. Max cooked for their first night in, and that simple, quiet evening became the first page of a story they didn’t yet know would change everything. Just a month into their relationship, Maddie unexpectedly lost her father. They weren’t sure if their love could survive such heartbreak, but in those darkest moments, their faith and trust in God held them steady. Through tears, prayers, and endless conversations, they discovered a love that was patient, unwavering, and beautifully resilient. Their journey then carried them to Seattle for Max’s medical training. Surrounded by twinkling city lights and calm waters, they fell in love with the city, and with the life they were building together. And it was there, on a private sunset sail in Elliott Bay, that Max proposed… and they stepped into the next chapter of forever.
