Max and I have grown up in close proximity of each other throughout our childhood in Lafayette. While we didn’t know each other during this time, we learned quickly that our early years were quite similar. We went to the same parks as babies and we spent countless hours playing with our neighborhood best friends. We technically competed against each other on our Summer Swim Teams, although one of us argues his swimming talent can’t be compared to the other’s. We attended Stanley Middle School together, a time where we both agree we were much too shy to talk to the opposite gender. It wasn’t until the Summer before our Senior Year that we finally met, and we fell very quickly for each other from that first moment. I was attending my rival high school’s football and baseball games to watch Max play. He became a consistent guest at my family’s dinners and social outings with friends. Best of all, we had two Senior Balls! We spent as much time as we possibly could together, while still making sure we were home before curfew. We stayed together through our years in college. With Santa Clara and Cal being approximately a 52-minute drive away from each other, there were times when the distance felt like the hardest thing we could endure (we later learned that this was not the case), but we knew we would make it through. I convinced my college friends to drive to Berkeley for Cal Baseball games, and Max came to every formal that he could make it to. He even traveled to New Zealand when I was studying abroad. We both value that we were able to find communities at our schools, while still being able to support each other through these particularly special years. Fast forward a few years, and we are now happily living in our small one-bedroom apartment in San Francisco. We enjoy looking back at our nearly eight years together, reflecting on big and small moments. Our relationship has always been a grounding piece of our lives through times of constant change. More than anything else, we love dreaming about our futures together. About our future family, career aspirations, travel, and about finally being married! We’ve been waiting YEARS for this day to come, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you all!
