We met in our sophomore year at the University of Northwestern through our shared involvement in the residence life position. The job required sitting in a quiet office for up to 6 hours a night where we very quickly clicked as great friends. Jillian thought I was kind, hilarious, and genuine. Unfortunately for her I thought she was kinder, almost as funny as me, and full of an irresistible passion for adventure and life. Our friendship grew over the following year, “strictly platonic” as most friends are but we found ourselves intentionally trading around shifts to spend the nights talking and laughing and sharing life together. It took us a summer apart to realize how important our friendship meant to each other, and after a clumsy confession of wanting to be something more from myself and some more pseudo dates, we decided to begin our relationship shortly after Christmas break. The past year has been an incredible experience of growth and laughter and joy, and every day we learn something new about one another and what it means to share a life full of adventure and joy. On September 24th (we hope you can make it!) we’re taking the next step of commitment and celebrating love and our future together! -Max
