Felicity and Max met in the San Francisco Bay Area in early 2018, while Felicity was trying life in the "Big City" after growing up in coastal California and Max was studying Public Policy across the Bay at Berkeley after his stint in DC. Their early time together was filled with Felicity showing Max the city's best coffee shops and eateries, and Max taking Felicity on his favorite hikes. They bonded quickly over the common kindness they saw in each other, passion for spending time with friends, and quiet moments observing the world. Soon they found places that were special to them both; heading to Yosemite in late fall, the Yuba river in the summer, and Santa Barbara whenever Felicity could convince Max to take the 5 hour drive. Closer to their home in Oakland, Cheese Board Pizza, Flowerland, and Stinson beach were frequented often. In September 2020 they moved to Seattle so that Max could begin a Ph.D. program at the University of Washington. It quickly felt like home - it was a place full of family and memories for Max, and for Felicity the natural beauty and abundance of water and mountains had a familiar feeling. Here they created new routines, built a wonderful community of friends, and picked up where they left off in CA exploring the all Washington had to offer. Max and Felicity got engaged in Mazama, WA in late June, 2023.
We’re so thrilled to invite you to celebrate with us in Mazama which has easily become our favorite place in Washington. Mazama is nestled at the base of the Cascade Mountains in the Methow Valley, just east of North Cascade National Park. Its original appeal was a visit to the famous Rolling Huts, followed by the discovery that it’s a nordic ski mecca (which left Max hooked)! While very different from Big Sur, to Felicity the small, isolated community feels very close to home. It is also where we got engaged, a year ago to the weekend from when we will be making things official! Mazama is itty bitty but not lacking in activities! There is amazing hiking, a gorgeous river (for rafting, for swimming, for admiring!), horseback riding, rock climbing, an amazing trail system for biking and walks and even an old-western themed pioneer town at the other end of the valley called Winthrop!
