Jackie and Max are a JSwipe success story! They matched on the dating app in fall 2018. After exchanging a few messages, it became clear that they both "had the chat" and set up a date! Max, who is known in many circles for his exemplary organizational skills and punctuality, ended up canceling on Jackie right before the date. For some reason, Jackie still agreed to meet up the following week with him. They shared their first date at a wine bar named Vanguard near Max's apartment in the romantic neighborhood of Kips Bay!
Jackie told Max that when he proposed, she wanted it to be a surprise! Max agreed to these terms. But then Jackie, who is a journalist for a living, proceeded to investigate when it would be. She floated potential dates for trips away for every week of summer to see when Max would say no. When she finally zeroed in on the correct week, Jackie still was not satisfied. She then made plans with friends for each day, forcing Max to tell them to cancel on her. "It's like a game of wack-a-mole," a beleaguered Max complained to her friends. Jackie woke up on August 5, 2021, and said to Max, "Happy uneventful Thursday!" -- knowing that it would be anything but! She was correct about that, but she hadn't uncovered in her investigative work that Max had enlisted his friends to set up gorgeous flowers outside of the Brooklyn Public Library to propose! She said yes!
