On this Episode of: How I Met My Husband

Friends, family, and football oh my!

Story time! It all started on SuperBowl LII Sunday with a promise to my cousin...one that, full disclosure, I don't remember making and broke immediately. My cousin, John Michael, had recently moved down the street from me in Wilmington and had invited his best friend, Tristan, for a weekend of fun and football. Even though they'd been friends since middle school, and Tristan was featured in a big portion of John Michael's stories, we had never met. Then due to a late workday for me on Friday, and a migraine from hades for Tristan on Saturday, we still hadn't met. This leads us to Superbowl Sunday. PSA: The Monday following Superbowl Sunday should be a national holiday and we should all have the day off work to catch up on sleep! This concludes my PSA. Anywho, Superbowl Sunday had arrived, and our plans were simple: Meet at John Michael's house, do introductions/hang out before the game, and then go to our local watering hole to watch it. Simple right? Should have been, but that was before the cards came out. What happens when you add up two really competitive cousins, a few friends who'd never played poker before, a secret (and mostly silent) card shark, and no form of currency to bet with other than drinks? Too much for a Sunday, that's for sure! It was during this time, that John Michael pulled me to the side and asked me not to get involved with his friend. My reply was a promise to stay away and that his friend was safe from me! Annnnd I kept good on that promise...for about 4 hours. What can I say? This hyperactive extrovert just couldn't stay away from the calm and handsome introvert; opposites attract and all that right? We sat out on the porch talking a getting to know one another till the sun came up! Well worth the angry cousin (sorry John Michael, I love you!) and the struggle bus I that I lived on at work the next day because the rest, as they say, is history!
