We met during the first week of winter semester at BYU–Idaho. We were in the same ward and assigned to the same Family Home Evening group. At first, we were just two people in a group of friends, laughing, playing games, and building friendships. But one night, everything changed... over a heated game of Uno. (Yes, really.) That little playful “argument” sparked something, and from that moment on, we started to grow closer. Our FHE group became a tight-knit family, and so did we. Near the end of the semester, Maurenalinn wanted to go on a walk but didn’t want to go alone in the dark, so she asked Rob to come. That night, under the stars, something clicked. We both began to realize that we weren’t just good friends, we were each other’s best friend. Still, we didn’t want to rush anything and risk what we already had. Then, at a friend’s wedding in Utah, we shared our first dance. From that moment on, we had hope that maybe this was something more. The very next week, we spent every spare moment together. We laughed, talked, and truly saw each other for who we were, and we fell in love. A few weeks later, Rob left for Ecuador to serve in orphanages. Even though we were miles apart, our connection grew even stronger. When he came home, it didn’t take long. Just one week later, Rob proposed. Now, we're so excited to begin forever, marrying our best friend.
