Maureen moved from Atlantic Highlands, NJ to Brattleboro, VT in January 2017. She worked at Amy's Bakery Arts Cafe as a pastry chef. One day, a friend reached out to Maureen to see if she would be interested in teaching skiing at Stratton...of course she said yes! She started in March 2017, but lady fate wasn't yet ready to bring together these two souls. Maureen was only at Stratton one weekend before she fell and injured her knee. Tim was out with his own knee injury that weekend. By the time Tim healed and returned to Stratton, Maureen was back in NJ getting knee surgery. Fast forward to summer and the mountains have shed their snowy blankets for canopies of green. Maureen returned to Vermont to heal and continue baking. Tim moved back to New York City for a teaching job. Our hearts swell in the summer heat as they long for their other half. A few months back in NYC, but Tim felt the mountains calling him home. Perhaps he even heard Maureen's heart calling out for his. He heard those calls and followed his heart back to Winhall, deciding he will coach at Stratton again that winter. Maureen, growing weary of early morning shifts, decided that she would also return to Stratton. On an early November day, excitement fills the Black Bear Lodge as Stratton employees pile in for orientation, sharing laughs and hugs as this seasonal family reunites. Maureen finds a seat with some friends, sitting right behind Tim. She has never felt so wooed by the back of someone's head. Then that head turned around, and she is blinded by Tim's smile. It is love at first sight. It didn't take long after that first look for Maureen and Tim to get together. They fell in love mountainside, sharing in the beauty of Vermont with a child-like wonder. They've been through a lot since then-- road trips, river scrambles, matching tattoos, a global pandemic. Always jumping feet first, always by each other's sides. They can't wait to see where the rest of their lives take them, together.
