We met 8 years ago at the scenic waterfront of Elias Point in Riverside, CT as part of an accepted students event at our now alma mater, Gettysburg College. To get to Elias Point, you park in a nearby neighborhood and then walk the remaining distance to the reception area. We were the first to arrive at the event and, after introducing, began the walk out to the point. There was non-stop talking on the walk out, but it was not what you might think. The boisterous grandfather of the now groom, Charlie Parker, directed much of the conversation to help his shy grandson talk to his future classmate. His efforts were in vein, unfortunately, and we began our college days with the feint memory of our first meeting. We occasionally saw each other around campus over the next few years, getting to know one another over time. Our first breakthrough was a date party where the beautiful bride to be took a chance by inviting the shy boy she met three years ago. The next day, this same shy boy mustered up the courage to ask his beautiful date out for dinner. Dinner led to another dinner, which led to many more dinners and quickly developed into a loving and supportive relationship. This love and support has never wavered throughout the last five amazing years together. On July 5th we went back to Elias Point to retrace our first steps. This time was different, however, as we walked out hand in hand thinking about how far we have come since we first met. By the time we had reached the point for the second time it became clear that this walk was less about retracing our first steps together and all about taking the next step together. We are both extremely excited for you to celebrate with us on June 6th as we take the next step in our life together!
