Yes. Please keep in mind that traffic across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to Kent Island can be extremely heavy on the July 4th holiday weekend as Baltimoreans and Washingtonians head to the Atlantic beaches in Maryland and Delaware. We recommend traveling on Thursday if possible. If you arrive on Friday the 3rd, please plan to arrive early and allow plenty of time to reach Kent Island. Traffic at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge can back up for miles. Best times to cross the Bay Bridge and traffic updates can be found at : https://mdta.maryland.gov/blog-category/mdta-news-releases/chesapeake-bay-bridge-fourth-july-best-drive-times
If you are flying, we recommend that you rent a car at BWI Airport. Uber and Lyft services are extremely spotty on rural Kent Island and the Eastern Shore. If you do plan to use a ride share service we recommend arranging the ride in advance. We have arranged for Chesapeake Charter to shuttle guests to and from the hotels on Kent Island for the wedding and reception if needed, but having a rental car will allow you to explore the area more freely during your visit. Chesapeake Charter can also be booked by guests directly for transportation from and back to the airport if desired. To book, email Jake Lonergan at Jake@chesapeakecharter.net
Kent Island is on the Eastern side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The Bay Bridge is 4.3 miles long and may spark anxiety for any of our guests who have a fear of driving over bridges. The Kent Island Express is available to provide a driver to drive your car over the bridge for you. The service is available 24/7. Details can be found on their website: https://www.kentislandexpress.com
Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) is 30 miles from Kent Island and normally a 40 minute drive without traffic. Please see above in regards to expected holiday traffic and plan accordingly. Traffic at the Bay Bridge can back up for miles during peak times.
Yes. If your are staying at any of the hotels listed on our travel page, we will have a shuttle running from the hotels to the wedding and back at the end of the reception. There are many wonderful hotels in Annapolis if you choose to stay there, however shuttle service will not be provided to Annapolis and again, please plan for extreme traffic and delays at the Bay Bridge when driving to the wedding.
Yes. There is ample parking at the Beach Club for anyone who is planning on driving.
