Halloween 2014, Maura was standing on a chair in a crowded party dressed as a hurricane, a very unique costume, the name her family jokingly calls her "Hurricane Maura". Jake came over dressed as a pickle, he and his roommates all went with a food theme that year. Their mutual friend Dan made the initial brief introduction. Jake met up with Maura later that night and offered to walk her home . When they got to Maura's apartment, the two talked for hours, agreeing to a date that week at The Boynton, a Worcester staple that next Thursday night. That night, Maura shut the door and told herself that he is the one.
