Have delicious food/bevs at one of the million restaurants (favs include Northampton Brewery, Amanouz, Local Burger, or Thai Garden, to only name a few), grab ice cream at Herrell's, or do some shopping at quirky FACES.

There are lots of fun places to hike/be outside around the area.
The Notch Reservation (Mt Holyoke Range State Park) is really close by, and is a great, family friendly place to hike!
