Anybody who doesn't know this colorful character should get to know him. If he's not laughing his lungs out, then he is either in wise contemplation or zoned out on a different planet. There isn't anybody else I would choose to be my best man. Chris is closer than a brother to me. Ever since we began our friendship around 11th grade or so (though he thinks it began in 1st grade) he has stuck by my side through all my growing pains and for that I am eternally indebted.

The one and only Brian Monroe is also a groomsman. I have been friends with Bryan since our intricate conversations during 12th grade government. Brian is one of the most easy going people I know. He is always down for whatever. His love for people is evident in the way he sacrifices time, resources, and energy for just about anything. A story I love to tell is when I was locked out of my car with the key in my hand. Unable to get in I called Bryan who stayed to help me for the next couple hours. He is also a deep thinker and lover of truth. Bryan is married to his wonderful wife Margaret Monroe and has a baby boy on the way.

SisterCousin. Born in the same hospital. Celebrated our birthdays together since we were small until she got married LOL! The first person outside of my parents to beat me up, she punched me so hard I flew and hit a banana tree and now I’m traumatized by all banana trees. My favorite cook. When I feel like my filter is not working, hers is also always OFF. LOL!! She taught me how to drive on the freeway! Sometimes I feel like a child because of how she cares for me even though I’m a whole day older than her. I will always be so grateful for that tho. 🐋

He is a careful listener full of all kinds of wisdom. His passion for Jesus, missions, and others is inspiring. For several years he has guided my own soul in faithful bible studies along with joyful comradery. He also helps me reach my gym goals when he finds the energy to wake up on time.

Underneath my right knee is a scar about three inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide. I had seven stiches placed there in 5th grade because Jon Jon pushed me into a chain-link fence at Dade Christian. This is one of the many literally painful stories I could tell. However, for every painful (and funny) story I could tell, there are ten more of Jon Jon’s positive influence on me. He knows how to push me out of my comfort zone and help me stick to the right path.

This man really is my brother from another mother. Having lived with Aklesso for some time we formed a very unique relationship. He is constantly challenging me to think bigger and larger. Being the most extreme extrovert I know, he continually grows my circle for the better. This character trait of his is what led me to the very church I am a part of today. Aklesso is an artist and is using his art/music to change the world around him.

They were all kindled by this man right here. David is my cousin but so much more than that. He is my sensei. He showed me how to survive in these streets and at home. With only three ingredients in the fridge that do not belong together we can make a feast. He is also responsible for many late night shenanigans. Kesley has been there ever since I was born, mainly because he is my older brother. Ever since we were children he has always led the group; like that time he convinced Jaydon and I to swim out in the ocean with him to Jose’s boat. This of course was an easy task for Jaydon and even easier for Kesley. I on the other hand almost drowned. He is very passionate and strong willed. He loves food and trying new things. He is the yin to my yang. What I lack in brains, he makes up for with his smarts. What I neglect in emotion, he feels in his heart. What I perceive as black or white, he sheds many colors. We are both competitive and his spirit makes me want to be better.

My Sina-Bina!!! The first to make me an AUNTY!! Now we just look like sisters. When she was born, I used her name for all my passwords. She's a whole adult now. Her father is my oldest brother - and will kill someone with one slap. That's why Sina is one of the most wonderful, loving and hardworking people I know - LOL! When I think about wanting to shift in responsibility of being a Godly woman, I think of her. I want to walk right, run well, fall beautifully and get back up with courage all in front of eyes that call me aunty, and she is at the top.

I have been there for Kayleb ever since he was born, mainly because he is my younger brother. Kayleb is a one-of-a-kind Piedra. He is far more advanced than his age would lead you to believe. He is extremely talented with computers and games. He also loves a good anime. He feels deeply and is in a class of his own. He has very fascinating tastes from his spicy snacks to rug design. Making Kayleb laugh is extremely satisfying because it makes me guffaw (Shoutout to Mykella's cruise). I am honored to have him as my groomsman.

I don't think I have ever met anyone quite like Jaydon. For those who don't know, Jaydon is my best friend from childhood. I looked forward to weekends to hang out with Jaydon and his brother Brandon. Jaydon is a pristine example of loyalty because he still sticks around no matter how much I try to embarrass and annoy him. Even from childhood I remember sitting in kindergarten as Mrs. Rebecca was reading the story of Peter Rabbit from a book. As Jaydon was listening intently, I was focused on the prize. For no reason at all I had the uncontrollable urge to want to pull Jaydon's ear lobe. So I did. Nonetheless, here he is years later still at my side. I try to emulate his meekness and kindness every day.

I think everyone should have a Brandon in their lives. For those who don't know, Brandon is my best friend from childhood. I looked forward to weekends to hang out with Brandon and his brother Jaydon. Brandon excels at all things academic. He is well on his way to being a medical physician. From childhood Brandon knew that going with the crowd isn't always the best option. He brought much needed diversity to my own life. He enjoys casually singing and if given the opportunity, accompanying him on piano is always a good time. I owe my deep love for the Broadway musical Hamilton to him for this very reason.
