No. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has created much uncertainty in the last year, we are still proceeding with our wedding on September 19th, 2021. We understand the situation is in constant flux, but based on current vaccination rates, CDC guidelines, and California regulations, we feel that it will be safe to gather and celebrate. We have no plans to push this off again so it's all or nothing guys!
Although the state of California is officially open, we still need to abide by the rules set by our vendors. In order to host any private event, all of our guests must be either fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide us with proof a negative COVID test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival in California. During our wedding reception, we are required to seat our guests based on whether or not they have been fully vaccinated. Those who have been vaccinated (and their young kids) will be seated together but we are not allowed to mix the vaccinated and unvaccinated groups at the same table. We will have to keep the two groups separated during dinner. We are taking these rules very seriously since ~20% of our guests are ineligible to get vaccines at the moment and/or are immunocompromised. We are going to do our best to have this wedding as safely as possible and hope you will help us do the same.
We prefer that everyone be vaccinated before our wedding! According to California, the CDC, and the Navy COVID guidelines, in order to attend any of our events over our wedding weekend all of our guests must either: 1.) Be FULLY vaccinated (send us proof before arrival), or 2.) Provide us with a negative COVID test taken in CA WITHIN 72 hours before travel to California. Until we get further instruction stating otherwise, we expect everyone to provide us with either Option 1 or 2 above before you arrive in California. This is not an argument of politics or the efficacy of vaccines. If you cannot follow these rules, please let us know and we can discuss this privately.
For everyone's convenience, we have courtesy room blocks set up at the Comfort Inn & Suites SeaWorld and the Hampton Inn & Suites Liberty Station. Check out our "Hotels & Travel" page on this website. Both are great hotels in convenient locations between our wedding venue and downtown San Diego. However, if you want to look elsewhere, here are some areas to check out: 1.) La Jolla: It's one of the more affluent areas of San Diego so it tends to be pricier but you have your pick of places to shop, eat, golf, and go to the beach. Our venue is right in the heart of The Village of La Jolla 2.) The Gaslamp Quarter: Located in downtown San Diego, this area is also a great place to stay if you love to eat, explore, and stay up to party. But keep in mind that KABOO will be taking over downtown San Diego during our wedding weekend and hotels are filling up fast!
There's plenty of street parking around the La Jolla Woman's Club. Since the wedding is on a Sunday, all the street parking is free and there are no time limits until Monday morning at 8 am. The exceptions would be in white loading zones, red restricted zones, or some of the surround residential areas a couple blocks away. There is a community center right across the street with plenty of street parking as well. Sunday evenings in La Jolla on the off-season are pretty quiet so there shouldn't be any issues finding parking on the street.
