Though Matthew and Megan have known each other for over ten years, it wasn't until 2022 that they reconnected. They dated for a few months before Matthew officially asked Megan to be his girlfriend after he took her to the ball. She said yes, then promptly left for a (preplanned) trip to Hawaii. They spent the next year(s) growing, learning, and loving each other.
We have spent a lot of time exploring the outdoors, but we have come back to Red Fish Lake a number of times over the course of our relationship. While spending a holiday weekend on the beaches at North Shore; the beach we take the dogs to play whenever we are there, Matt asked for a family picture. After the family picture Megan attempted to walk away, Matt grabbed Megan by the arm and pulled her back to him as he got down on one knee and asked Megan to be his forever golf partner, official dog mom to his Belgian Malinois, Allie, and his wife.
We held our ceremony with family at the inlet transfer camp on the south end of Red Fish Lake in Stanley on June 22 of this year. It was a wild ride of a weekend. It began with a stop at Banner Summit, at which time the car locked, running, with the keys in it (yikes)! We spent an hour there until we were able to get back in. The locked doors continued to be an issue through the ceremony day; house keeping locked our cabin with the keys in it. Red Fish couldn't find our reservation for pontoons, even though the confirmed it the day before, haha. The ceremony, however, went off without a hitch - the people who had boats and paddle boards at the inlet beach graciously moved them, allowing us to hold our ceremony at the inlet creek beach. We had our first dance on the marina docks, dinner at Limbert's, and a fire on the beach (in a backcountry approved fire pit) to wrap up the day.
