How we met

It all started at the beach...

In the summer of 2015, we both made our way to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida for a fun summer beach job. Neither of us had ever heard of the other, but with a group of college kids living on 30A for the summer, we all quickly became very close friends. About halfway through the summer, we figured out there was something more than friendship between us, but we decided to keep it quiet in order to avoid harassment from the rest of our crew :) Apparently, we were not good at hiding our feelings for each other because all of our friends found out pretty quickly! From there, the rest is history... we both returned to school and luckily Ole Miss was only an hour away from the University of Memphis! Who knew a summer job at the beach would help us find each other?! Thanks to LiveWell introducing us, we are getting married!!

The Proposal

Spoiler: this involved the beach too :)

Ever since the summer we met on 30A, we have taken every chance we can to go visit the beautiful beaches and catch up with friends. This past February, we planned yet another trip to get away and relax after a cold winter. Jacob booked a hotel for us and I thought we were staying in San Destin this trip, but I was in for a surprise. Once we checked in, Jacob said the first thing he wanted to do was put his feet in the sand and then grab some dinner. So, we got dressed (which Jacob insisted was taking too long on my part :P) and headed to Seaside to hit the beach then get some grub. We finally got to the beach just before sunset. While walking around enjoying the water and looking at the beautiful homes, Jacob pointed out that a sand dollar had washed up on the shore. I was extremely excited that a full sand dollar had washed up in one piece because that never happens! Usually, you can only find random pieces of a sand dollar. Me being naive marveled over this whole sand dollar that was cracked down the middle. Jacob asked if the back of the sand dollar was broken too, so I turned it over to find "Marry Me" written on the back of the sand dollar. I turned around to find Jacob on one knee and then it goes a little blurry from there because we were both nervous and excited!! Obviously, I said yes! But the surprise wasn't over... after taking some pictures, we left to go to dinner, or so I thought. Jacob missed the turn for the restaurant and pulled into a neighborhood. Then, he pulled into a driveway of an adorable beach house. When I walked in, both of our families were there yelling "congratulations"!! It was such a special touch on top of an already incredibly thoughtful proposal. Then, to top it all off, the hotel was a ploy to throw me off and we were actually staying at this awesome beach house for the weekend! It was the best weekend, but I have a feeling that March 28, 2020 may beat it! :)
