Our Story

Janet's Version We met at work- super professional, obviously! There was never one big moment, but a series of little ones that made everything click. Looking back, the signs were there early on. Like Joe mysteriously leaving things behind in my office. Started with his pen or two, then it was his files, then-somehow-his entire locker. Before long, he wasn't just moving into my office- he was doing the same at my house! What truly sealed the deal for me was that from the very beginning, I saw how special Joe was by the way he connected with my four children. He walked into a crazy chaotic house and never even flinched. He didn't run. He didn't pretend he had "somewhere to be" when the chaos hit (which let's be honest, was quite often). Instead, he dove right in! He always showed up, with patience, kindness, and a quiet strength that truly spoke louder than words. He took the time to get to know each of them individually- their personalities, their quirks, their favorite things. Whether it was helping them with homework, showing up at their games, sharing inside jokes with them, or just being a steady, calming presence, Joe became their person they could count on. He has a way with connecting with each of them that's genuine and effortless. He didn't just love me, he embraced and loved all of us. Watching the bond that Joe shares with our kids is one of the greatest joys of my life. He didn't just become part of our family. He made it whole. Joe's Version.... So there I was, minding my own business, trying to be the hardworking police officer that I was- when Janet walked in. She was young and beautiful, but a guy like me was completely out of her league- okay, maybe she was out of my league. Janet "just happened" to be everywhere I was in the office. She would accidentally bump into me in the hallway, she happened to always need a cup of coffee while I was making mine. She even took it so far and started working out in the gym at the same time as me. She always said it was coincidental and I wasn't complaining. We started talking more, joking around and helping each other out with work stuff- and before I knew it, she had become the best part of my day. What really sealed the deal for me, was seeing how she handled life and the way that she was with her 4 kids. Watching her juggle life, work, and motherhood like a pro, it was impossible for me not to fall for her. The way she loved them, supported them, and how strong of a mother and woman she was, truly amazed me. I realized I wasn't just falling for her, I was falling for the whole chaotic package. The Real Version... Obviously, depending on who you ask, one of us was clearly more into the other at first. According to Janet, Joe was clearly smitten from day one. According to Joe, Janet basically fell in love with him during their first conversation. Truth is, we both kept finding reasons to be around each other, and eventually, it stopped feeling like a coincidence. Eventually one of us found the courage to turn all the laughter, fun and late-night texts into something that would be so much more. Now here we are- building a life, our family and still arguing about who was more into who at first. But we both agree on this: The pens were totally intentional and Janet has not worked out in a gym since!
