We met in a parking lot behind a river rafting company in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We were both living in the parking lot that summer; Matt was a river guide and I worked in the rafting office. Matt was living in the most enchanting yellow 1970s camper van that he called "Jackie." Jackie was Matt's best wingwoman. The orange velvet curtains in the van glowed at night and Matt was always blasting jazz music. For his part, Matt said he would sneak glances at me in the office between trips before we got to know each other. He loved my smile. We romped through the Tetons together that summer and discovered that we were good partners for one another in so many ways. My favorite week was oddly one where I had come down with a horrible pneumonia--while I was healing and still short of breath, Matt gave me piggy back rides to the art galleries around town and I held his hand for the first time. When I went back to school that fall, Matt and Jackie moved back to Zion. I trekked to Zion every chance I got; falling more in love with Matt and the desert. Matt traveled to Logan multiple times while I was still in school and had fresh baked bread waiting for me when I came home from class. When I questioned whether our relationship would go the distance, he said, "I'm here to stay." And stay he did. Of course, life since has had its ups and downs; but, suffice it to say, we both decided the best adventure we could choose was a life together. We are so excited to celebrate our love with you in one of the places where it was born. We hope you love Zion as much as we do. -Tessa
