Selena was traveling with a work colleague back to California after a business trip to Denver. Matthew was traveling to California to visit his sister. Matthew was sitting at the bar with a drink and saw the them walking around trying to find a seat. They walked by and Matthew asked if they wanted to share his table. They graciously accepted his offer. Selena then excused herself to get some dramamine. When she returned, Matthew prompted "mission accomplished, I presume?" and the conversation between them started flowing. When it was time to board flights, they parted ways, or so they thought. Selena spotted Matthew in line to board her flight to California (they were on the same flight!). She walked up to him in line and gave him her number. The rest is history!

The couple decided to take a vacation together to Hawaii to celebrate Selena's birthday. Matthew told Selena that they were going to do a photoshoot while they were staying at the Aulani Resort. Unbeknownst to Selena, Matthew had pre-arranged with the photographer that he was planning to propose. The photographer guided them to a secluded area of the resort with a bench surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful flowers. There, Matthew and Selena sat down and he read her a poetic acrostic he had written for her called "Will You Marry Me". She joyously accepted!
