Our Story

Life has a funny way of sending people back to the places they least expect. By late 2022, both Matt and Sage, despite having roots in Utah, had sworn they were moving on to bigger and brighter things. Matt had returned from Texas to be near family while he sorted out his next move. Sage had just finished college and was eagerly applying to jobs that could take her anywhere else. Utah was meant to be temporary. Familiar, but fleeting. Then their timelines overlapped for just long enough to change everything. Somewhere between job applications and escape plans, they matched on Hinge. On a blizzardy night in downtown Provo, they had their first date, expecting a casual evening at best. Instead, they instantly clicked. One date turned into another, and before long, their conversations, laughter, and connection felt effortless and exciting. It was the kind of beginning that makes you wonder if the universe is nudging you toward something. Still, timing has a sense of humor. Their plans to leave Utah were already in motion, and as strong as their connection was, their individual desires to start new chapters elsewhere were stronger. So just three months into happily dating, Matt moved to Boston to be near his sister, and Sage moved to Arizona to start her new role at ASU. On paper, it looked like a bittersweet ending. In reality, neither of them felt anything close to done. They kept talking every day and planned visits whenever they could. On one particular trip to Arizona, a small spark of an idea slipped into conversation: “What if Matt stayed a little longer?” He extended his flight. Then extended it again. And again. Eventually he needed to head back to Boston briefly to wrap up a few remaining commitments tied to his move, like appointments, errands, and packing. To soften the sting of parting, they joked it was simply a quick “business trip” and he would be right back. And he was. With every “business trip,” Matt returned to Arizona carrying yet another suitcase. Soon, the visits blurred into something much bigger. He was working from a foldable table in Sage’s humble living room, living out of luggage, and slowly relocating his life one “business-trip” suitcase at a time. It was chaotic, endearing, and strangely perfect. When Matt’s Boston lease finally ended, the happy couple found a place of their own in Arizona, and everything slid into place exactly the way it was meant to. They built a life in the desert, filled their days with adventures, and collected countless memories that made the early whirlwind worth it. Matt proposed in May 2025, and now here we are, getting ready for the next chapter of this love story. The one where everyone who matters most gets to gather and celebrate the many chapters still to come. We cannot wait to share this day with you!
