Since Matt lived in Monterey and Robin lived in San Jose, people often ask how the relationship came to be. It is all thanks to a mutual coworker, Cherrie. Cherrie worked full time at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, and part time at Natividad Hospital in Salinas. She became acquainted with Robin and Matt at each place of work, and suggested that they meet each other for a date. Matt and Robin finally planned their first date in March, 2022. Matt was able to see a picture of Robin before their meeting; Robin had only seen a blurry picture of Matt in a group photo from the Natividad holiday party. The day of their first date in Santa Cruz, Robin and her sister Phoebe were bleaching Robin’s hair, because... why not! The hair turned out a lovely orange yellow! In order to disguise her orange hair, Robin decided to wear a bright yellow beanie. Good thing Matt had seen the photo of her before their meeting, or else he may never had recognize her! To this day, Matt still talks about the funny yellow beanie which stood out among the crowds in Santa Cruz.
