Matthew and Rachel met a little over two years ago through a shared love for music and ministry. Both used TikTok to share their gifts of singing and playing piano, and one evening Rachel joined Matthew’s live stream, leaving comments that were encouraging, friendly, and a little flirty. A genuine friendship formed, made even more remarkable by the fact that they lived only two hours apart. As life grew busy, they eventually lost touch—until last fall, when Rachel left a comment on a ministry post on Matthew’s Facebook that read, “I wake up every morning thanking God for putting breath in my lungs and allowing me to live another day. I dedicate the day to His will and purpose for my life and ask Him to give me opportunities to spread the gospel truth.” Her words filled Matthew with joy and prompted him to ask her on a date. Rachel’s excited “yes” quickly turned into a night neither of them will ever forget. As Matthew began the two-hour drive to see her, he received a call that Rachel had fallen at work and was experiencing stroke-like symptoms. Without hesitation, Matthew rushed to Tulsa—not to a restaurant for their first date, but to a hospital room, where they spent the entire night together. There, surrounded by uncertainty, they shared conversations about their hopes, dreams, faith, and common passions. There was a twinkle of sincerity in Rachel’s eyes and a spark in Matthew’s heart that could only exist with God at the center of it all. They realized the kind of love they were feeling was the kind they thought only existed in fairytales. Just three months later, after receiving her father’s blessing, Matthew knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He planned a proposal she would never forget, taking Rachel to see Christmas lights from a whole new perspective. Late one evening, he surprised her by pulling up to an airport and boarding a small plane to fly over the glowing lights below. After they landed, adrenaline still rushing, Matthew took Rachel by the hand, led her into an airplane hangar, and got down on one knee to ask her to be his wife. This is a true love story—one that could only exist by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please click 👆 the menu icon at the upper right of the screen.
