Matthew and Polly met in late 2019 while beginning their journey to become licensed skydivers—because apparently jumping out of planes felt like a reasonable place to meet the love of your life. From across the room, Matthew noticed Polly’s smile and walked over to introduce himself. What started as a simple hello quickly turned into a friendship. Over the next few months, they grew closer, mostly seeing each other on weekends while juggling busy schedules. When COVID hit and Polly began working from home, she found herself spending more and more time at the Ontano household… and eventually, she just never left. The years that followed were filled with adventure, growth, and plenty of fun. It all kicked off with a two-week family vacation in Hawaii, where a walk along the beaches of Maui sparked dreams of one day tying the knot there. Somewhere along the way, they also welcomed Estella, their perfect Dalmatian, into their lives—bringing endless love and just the right amount of chaos. Through it all, Matthew and Polly cheered each other on while chasing their goals. Matthew powered through a lengthy process that led him to a rewarding career with the City of Hayward. Polly followed her passion for health and fitness, teaching reformer Pilates on the side while continuing her education to become a Health Coach and Functional Practitioner. And just when life felt busy enough, they added Autumn—their mean-but-loving cat—officially completing the family (...for now). With all the craziness came some very special moments of calm. On Christmas morning in 2025, Matthew and Polly took turns opening presents privately, one by one. When they were finished, Matthew casually said, “You have one more gift,” got down on one knee, and proposed. Polly, completely overjoyed, said yes—and couldn’t wait to share the news with their families. Now in 2026, nearly seven years together as a family of four (yes, the dog and cat absolutely count), Matthew and Polly have purchased their first home in Livermore, CA. While it won’t be move-in ready until later this year, they’re thrilled for everything ahead as they step into this next chapter—together, married, and ready for whatever comes next.
