Valley of Fire State Park
This area is only 10 min from Olivias childhood home but 1 hr from Las Vegas. It's epic colors and rock formations are great for early morning or late afternoon exploration. Please be prepared for HOT weather, limited availability to water, no cell phone service and the $15 per car fee. It's a one of a kind place in the world!
Mount Charleston
Mt Charleston is about 1.5 hrs from Las Vegas and a world of camping and cooler weather awaits. There is an entrance fee of . There's beautiful scenery, hiking, biking and unique picnic areas to enjoy up in the mountains. Like all local state parks, please do NOT go near nor feed the wildlife as they are known to kick or bite if approached. They typically keep to themselves unless approached.
