The nearest major airport to St. Augustine Beach is Jacksonville (JAX) (50.9 miles). Other nearby airports include Daytona Beach (DAB) Airport which is 48 miles away, Orlando Sanford (SFB) (74.8 miles) and Orlando (MCO) (98.7 miles). You’ll probably need to rent a car to get to St. Augustine; we love Costco (for those who are members). Also, if anyone is interested in coordinating transportation with others who might be arriving at the same airport around the same time, contact Sue at sjspear@comcast.net.
There is not an official block of rooms, since everyone’s needs and tastes are unique and because St. Augustine is home to many lovely “Bed & Breakfast” properties. The wedding venue, The White Room, is located near the Bridge of Lions. Some of the hotels within a short walk of The White Room include Victorian House Bed & Breakfast, The Bayfront Inn and Bella Bay Inn. Other options include The Hilton St. Augustine Historic Bayfront and Casa Monica Resort and Spa.
The White Room, built in 1888, is located on St. Augustine’s waterfront and was established in 2006. This historic venue features a beautiful rooftop where the ceremony and dancing will be held. Cocktail hour and dinner will be held inside the loft space. So, the event will be held both indoors and outdoors. The White Room prides itself on its delicious cuisine; all food is prepared in house by executive chefs – please let us know if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions. However, for those who are fans of Publix bakery, we’re happy to report that they will be providing the wedding cake.
Doors to the venue will open at 4:30pm. The ceremony will begin at 5pm.
The dress code for the event is “festive cocktail.” We want everyone to be prepared to enjoy themselves, be comfortable and dance! That being said, we’d appreciate no denim.
While weather is definitely variable, according to historical data for November in St. Augustine, temperatures are typically comfortable during the day, and evenings may be a bit cool. The venue will be a combination of indoor/outdoor space. There is also air-conditioning to consider—it’s always a good idea to bring a wrap or sweater.
The ceremony will begin at 5:00 pm, to be immediately followed by cocktails, dinner and dancing. That leaves the entire early part of the day free to explore the beauty of St. Augustine. We’re also working on putting together some fun ideas for things to do earlier that day—St. Augustine is home to many different museums and sights, including the World Golf Hall of Fame. Stay tuned for more information, we’re working on putting together an informal excursion for any golfers who might want to take in that sight. Please email mike.spear@comcast.net if you’re interested. We also hope you’ll join us for a casual Farewell Breakfast on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 9:30 AM - noon, location TBD. We’ll gather to have breakfast and say our goodbyes to Nora and Matt, friends and family before heading home. Grab a hug and a bagel or stay for some eggs and bacon at whatever time works for you while we are there :) Dress: Super casual/travel
Since St. Augustine is so geographically compact, and because there are so many potential places to stay, no official transportation is being offered. That being said, everyone will likely end up either a short walk or a quick Uber or Lyft ride away.
Parking downtown in the historical district of St. Augustine is very limited, so we recommend you use a rideshare or taxi service.
We would love you to bring the kiddos, but also understand if parents want a night out to themselves! There will be a kids’ menu. Let us know if you have any kid-related questions, we want to make sure everyone is comfortable and accommodated.
We'll be serving light passed hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour, followed by a dinner buffet and serving stations, and of course dessert! Plus a late night snack, for when you’ve worked up an appetite on the dance floor.
Please note on the RSVP any allergies or dietary restrictions. The White Room prides itself on safely accommodating a range of allergies. And Nora’s picked out a whole lot of yummy vegetarian options!
We will be offering wine, beer, and bride and groom signature drinks, as well as a variety of non-alcoholic refreshments and mocktails.
You will get 30 seconds at the beginning of the ceremony to take photos/videos, and then we kindly ask you to put your phone away for the duration of the ceremony. We trust that our photographers will do an amazing job and we’re excited to share photos after the wedding. Please refrain from posting photos on any public websites. Private social media posts are ok.
Please RSVP online by October 14th.
We are working on providing a video stream, please check back closer to the wedding for more information.
Please see the “Registry” tab on the Zola website.
Your presence is present enough, but should you wish to bring a gift to our wedding, there will be a gift table for your convenience.
The reception at The White Room will end promptly at 10:30pm. Please join us for a casual after-party, location TBD.
For the safety and comfort of our vulnerable loved ones, we strongly recommend being up to date on vaccines including the COVID-19 and flu vaccines. Please monitor any symptoms the week of the wedding and let us know if you are feeling unwell. We’d appreciate it if you would take a COVID test within 1-2 days of the wedding and let us know immediately if you test positive. Finally, we will have some high quality KN95 masks on hand and encourage and support you if you choose to mask for any reason.
