The M&M story begins in their senior year of college, at the Rutgers' Catholic Student Association. Matt always thought that Michelle was one of the coolest people. Michelle was impressed by his walking handstands during the fall retreat.

Matt asked Michelle out on his birthday, February 18th, during his party in Weehawken. They went on their first date a week later, but decided to be friends. After traveling together to France on a pilgrimage with their church, Michelle asked Matt if he wanted to go on a second date. They went on their second "first" date on her birthday, March 31st, and the rest is history!

Matt took Michelle to Mt. Tammany. It was a beautiful day with an intense hike, climbing up the rocky and steep mountain. During the hike, Matt said he remembered "it was a lot easier in his mind." When they reached the summit, Michelle enjoyed the beautiful views, not knowing that Matt was sprinting to find a quiet location for the proposal. After lunch, Matt asked Michelle to marry him, and she gave a very excited "YES!"
