Matthew and Michele’s story began at St. John’s University, introduced through mutual friends — though in many ways, it feels like they were always meant to find each other. Matthew’s legendary opening line, “Nice shirt, I saw them at Warped Tour,” (referring to Michele’s Simple Plan band shirt) could have been a disaster… but somehow, it was perfect. Smooth? Debatable. Effective? Absolutely. In that moment, something just clicked. They quickly discovered they loved the same bands, had unknowingly attended many of the same concerts (probably standing just feet apart), and even shared a circle of mutual friends. It was as if their lives had been running parallel all along, patiently waiting for the right moment to intersect — or at least the right band tee to make it happen. From the start, their relationship has been a beautiful blend of laughs, calmness, and random adventures. Whether they’re walking Bama, hunting for hidden treasures in thrift stores, getting lost in retro video game shops, or buying yet another plant to add to their ever-growing collection (Matthew swears they don’t need more… Michele disagrees), they find joy in the simple moments — especially when they’re laughing together. They balance each other effortlessly, bringing out the best (and the weirdest) in one another — and somehow making that chaos work beautifully. A few years ago, Matthew and Michele went on a family vacation to Lake George, and the town quickly stole their hearts. They’ve always felt most at peace near the water — spending every anniversary at the beach — but Lake George felt different. It felt like calm and adventure, just like their relationship (with a side of snacks and spontaneous lake dips). It didn’t take long for them to realize that when the time came, this was exactly where they wanted to say “I do.” And now, that moment is finally here. They can’t wait to celebrate their love surrounded by the people who mean the most to them in the place that means so much to their story. They will be saying “I do” on their 10-year anniversary — in the very place that came to feel like home to both of them.
