40 miles northwest of Santa Fe - this is a must do day trip and a favorite of ours.

High Road to Taos

A must drive is taking the high road to Taos. Spectacular desert and mountain scenery. While on the high road take a detour to Chimayo. Visit the little Sanctuary de Chimayo mission that is known for its miracle mud. Really authentic and cool little place. In the parking lot of the church is a little tortilla stand. They make all the traditional stuff, but the banana and chocolate tortillas are a must. There is an authentic old mission on the high road.
