Question

Crossing the Border

Answer

First and foremost, if you can, we recommend having a SENTRI pass. This is like TSA pre-check but for border crossings. Having this makes crossing, either by car or by plane, much faster. Sometimes when driving, we've seen the San Ysidro wait time be 4+ hours, but using SENTRI it only takes 15-30 minutes. There are 2 border crossing near Rosarito. San Ysidro and Otay Mesa. San Ysidro is the main border crossing into Tijuana, and it is very busy. This is usually not a problem when heading into Mexico, but it can take a long time heading out back into the U.S.. If you do not have SENTRI, we recommend using the Otay Mesa border crossing to leave Mexico. This usually takes significantly less time. You have multiple options for heading down to Rosarito. In most cases, we would recommend having a car. Google and Apple maps are as accurate in the area of Mexico near the border as they are in the U.S.. If you are in California, you can just drive down to Rosarito. It is about 1-2 hours south of the border. If driving is not for you, there are shuttle services that offer transport to/from the San Diego airport to your destination. Uber is available in Rosarito, as well as local taxi services. If you are flying in, you can choose either San Diego or Tijuana as your landing airport. If you land in SD and plan to rent a car, be sure it is with a rental company that allows the car to be driven into Mexico. Also be sure that you leave with ample time to make your flight back home as border wait times are highly variable. You can check border wait times using this U.S. Customs and Border Patrol website: https://bwt.cbp.gov/

Question

Toll Roads to Rosarito

Answer

If you're driving, once you pass the border you have the choice to take the free road marked "Libre" to Rosarito, or the toll road marked "Cuota". We recommend taking the toll road as it is much faster and has less traffic. The toll costs approximately 50 pesos, which is about $2.90. (The cost fluctuates regularly, this is an estimate and may be more or less when you cross) You need to pay with cash, and you can use US dollars, though the exchange rate usually favors the peso. We recommend having exact change, so have a few dollars and coins on hand. Depending on what part of Rosarito you are going to, you may need to pay two tolls.

Question

Food at the Wedding

Answer

We are aware that several of our guests have certain food accommodations that need to be met: limited vegan/vegetarian options, gluten-free, and nut-free foods will be available at our wedding. If you have a food accommodation, either the above or one not listed here, please let us know through the RSVP on this website so we can ensure we have enough of this food available for all who need it. At the wedding itself we will not have a set-plate dinner, but rather different food options that you can grab at your leisure.
