The Beginning

Begins with Marriage, Ends with Marriage

Matt and I met at work. Matt was working with an Orthopedic Surgeon when I joined their team. In hindsight, I was grateful to be assigned to work with Matt. He has always been so thoughtful, considerate and hardworking. In a short time we became great friends, making any excuse to spend our free time together. Matt’s best friend, Kevin Crisp, was engaged to be married and Matt needed a date. I suggested he invite my friend to the wedding and as soon as the words left my lips I wished I had just said: “I’m free this weekend, why not take me as your date?!” To rectify this situation, I went to my friend and told her about my newfound crush on Matt. She quickly let him know that something had come up and suggested he invite me instead. Of course I agreed and away to South Carolina we went. We had a great weekend together and can't wait to celebrate our wedding weekend with you all!

The Proposal

I knew Lauren was the one. She is an awesome person, a hard worker, and a great cook to boot. I was set to start a new job in May and I knew I would be working 7 days a week. I also wanted to begin restoring my mother’s 1978 Porsche that has not moved in nearly 20 years. So I began having the ring made, a process that took about 3 months. Lauren warned me that I better not fix that Porsche up before she gets a ring. She didn’t know it was already in the works. I scheduled a tow for the Porsche on the same day that I was set to start my new job. Lauren was less than pleased that I was moving forward with the car project. Meanwhile, love was in the air. My good friend David Worsham had an engagement party that weekend and another good friend Will Tesche was getting married the following weekend. Then, I received a call from the jeweler that the ring was complete and arrived from New York. I rushed to pick it up and called our favorite restaurant, La Cena. It’s not easy to get a table last minute, but I explained to the owner that I wanted to ask Lauren to marry me. He graciously worked us in for a late dinner and gave us a quiet table in the back. I explained to Lauren that I wanted to take her on one last date before I started the new job. We both knew we would have limited time together with a less than ideal schedule. We left David and Becky’s engagement party a bit early for an engagement of our own! I ordered a bottle of wine, got down on one knee, and the rest is history. The owner at La Cena texted me to say thank you for choosing his restaurant and sent me the security camera footage from our table. We can’t wait to celebrate with all of you in May!
