Matt and Jordyn first became friends in their 12th grade year at Mark R Isfeld. They had their 'first date' when Matt took Jordyn to Tim Hortons for hot chocolates during a lunch hour in December, spending the hour laughing and sharing their favourite songs with each other. Fast forward another month, and many more lunch hours together, Matt asked Jordyn to be his girlfriend on January 20th, 2017.

Nearly 7 years after beginning their relationship and recently moving provinces together, Matt took Jordyn to the Christmas lights display at the Calgary Zoo for New Years Eve. They spent the evening talking, laughing, getting hot chocolate and wandering the light show despite the pouring rain. When the ball dropped at midnight, Matt pulled Jordyn aside from the crowd and asked her to marry him, to which she replied 'of course!'.
