Like any good Catholic children, Matt and Jocelyn both attended CCD at Mary Our Queen Church in Plantsville, CT. While learning about the Power of Christ, likely after a sweaty lacrosse/soccer practice, Matt and Jocelyn locked eyes across the room and...became friends! They remained friends throughout middle school and high school but there was always an underlying current running between the two. Luckily, Junior prom was approaching and Matt only wanted to go with one girl, and the rest is history!

Jocelyn has spent almost every summer at her parents house in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. When Jocelyn first took Matt to the Cape he saw and understood how important of a place it is to her and from that moment he knew he'd always propose to Joce at the Cape. The Winter before the proposal, Jocelyn's parents moved to a new house within "walking" distance to a beach but Matt was never able to see the house before the proposal. He planned a romantic walk to the beach, after a delicious breakfast, which is Jocelyn's favorite meal, on her birthday weekend. Unfortunately, this romantic walk included walking along Massachusetts Route 28, which is like walking on a highway. Luckily, Jocelyn didn't mind because she knew what would be awaiting her at the beach, mostly because her mom, Ang, kept winking at her all weekend. Once on the beach, Matt got down on one knee but didn't get a chance to speak as Jocelyn said "yes" before he even opened his mouth!

For those of you who don't know, September 17th is a very important date for us. On this date in 2010, we went on our first date to Chili's (criminally underrated) and following dinner Matt officially asked Jocelyn to be his girlfriend. So when picking a wedding date we always liked September weddings and when we realized the 17th would fall on a Saturday we knew that was the only option! We're so lucky to say "I do" 12 years to the day after our first date!
