In a quest to find Janna the right guy, some of her co-workers thought Tinder was a good idea for her. After a quick swipe to the right by one of them, Matt and Janna were matched. After the typical “tell me about yourself chat”, Matt’s whitty sarcasm ultimately lead them to a first date. On their first date at Doolittles Matt had Janna laughing so hard that she was crying. Then....As they say the rest is history!
Matt decided to propose to Janna summer 2019. Buying the perfect ring without her knowing was one thing. Now, getting it onto an airplane for our trip to Denver, while sharing luggage...was another. Matt decided to propose on their Colorado trip just because it was already going to be so special with it being a destination away from home, a bucket list concert to Mumford & Sons, and our "babymoon" (and her birthday). Matt really didn't plan a "where", relying on his skill set of "winging it" of which usually works very well. Had thought of bribing the concert staff to do it during the show, BUT Janna wouldn't have liked that big of a crowd. Breckenridge CO it was, as we wanted to make a day trip out there from Denver. We spent the day strolling the shops downtown. Matt convinced Janna to ride an enclosed gondola from downtown to the ski resort. Her nerves were a bit on edge as it swung, but was fun none-the-less. Matt had very much wanted to take ONE final ski lift to the top, but after an "all the way the **** up there?!?!" from Janna...we had to change plans. WINGING IT!! So driving back to Denver, ring in my pocket, no official Fiance yet. On the way back, Matt had wanted to cross the Mountains over Loveland Pass. A VERY quick and inconspicuous google search for a pretty view provided a solution. Swan Mountain. Sapphire Point. Dillon Reservoir overlook surrounded by mountains. Unknown to either of us, it was fate as Sapphire Point is one of THE MOST popular engagement/wedding locations in Colorado. As we hiked in, we passed AN ACTUAL WEDDING CEREMONY. Matt was laughing hysterically in his mind. We got to a perfect outlook, and Matt got on one knee asking Janna to turn around. After a couple LONG minutes of happy tears, she finally said yes to me. Luckily a gentleman that had seen it all, offered to take our photo as well. It was perfect. Even if it wasn't at the top of a +12,500 foot mountain, we were, and still are... on top of the world.<3
