Our Love Story

We met in the most unexpected place possible: a psych hospital. HA! We were both staff members, and by complete coincidence, Hannah had just returned from vacation on Matthew’s very first day , which also meant she ended up training him. Somewhere between long shifts, workplace chaos, and getting to know each other, we exchanged phone numbers. A couple weeks later, we went on our first date to see Twister in theaters, followed by dinner at Plomo Quesadillas. Truly the perfect combination of tornadoes and queso. A few months later, during an intense air hockey game at Arcadia, Matthew decided it was time to officially ask Hannah to be his girlfriend. His famous words were: “If I win, you have to be my girlfriend.” Unfortunately for him… he missed. Completely HA! Luckily, Hannah said yes anyway. What started as an ordinary workday turned into the best relationship either of us could have imagined, and we can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter with all of you!

Our Proposal

Matthew had been planning the proposal for weeks and picked the perfect spot: a beautiful waterfall along a hiking trail. The only problem? The weather had been storming all week, so he was convinced the whole plan was going to fall apart before it even started. Then Saturday finally came, and we decided to go for it anyway. Of course, the chaos started immediately. Before the hike even began, Matthew almost lost the ring at Walmart while paying for our hiking snacks. Somehow, the ring survived the Walmart checkout experience, and we made it to the trailhead. Things got even more interesting once we started hiking because… we got completely lost. HA! At that point, neither of us were even sure we were going to make it to the proposal spot. But after wandering around long enough, we finally found a small waterfall tucked along the trail. While Hannah was admiring it and talking about how beautiful everything was, Matthew said her name. When she turned around, he was down on one knee. And because he apparently planned everything perfectly despite the chaos, he had even carried champagne on the hike for us to celebrate afterward. A stormy week, a near-lost ring, getting lost on the trail, and a waterfall proposal later… it turned into the easiest “yes” ever.
