Question

How do I get to the Mayor's Balcony?

Answer

Enter through the main doors on Polk Street, then head up the grand staircase. The Mayor’s Balcony is on the second floor, overlooking the rotunda. There will be signs and staff to guide you.

Question

When should I arrive?

Answer

Please plan to arrive at least 15-20 minutes before the ceremony begins so you have time to park, pass through security, and find your seat. City Hall is big, so arriving a little early helps avoid stress.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Wedding attire semi-formal Think celebratory, elegant, and city chic—formal enough for timeless photos, but relaxed enough to enjoy a casual lunch afterward. Please avoid wearing white or ivory dresses

Question

Where should I park?

Answer

City hall: We recommend the Civic Center Plaza Garage (355 McAllister St), which is a short walk from City Hall. Scoma's: Complimentary valet parking is available right out front. If valet is full, parking is validated at the Triangle Lot (Jefferson & Taylor).

Question

Can I bring an extra guest, kids, or more than my +1?

Answer

We kindly ask that you only bring the guest(s) listed on your invitation. Since this is an intimate elopement-style wedding, seating at City Hall and lunch at Scoma’s are very limited. While we’d love to celebrate with everyone, we’re hoping to keep the gathering adults-only. That said, we understand childcare isn’t always possible—if it’s truly out of your control, please don’t hesitate to bring your little one.

Question

Can I take photos or video during the ceremony?

Answer

Absolutely! City Hall is stunning, and you’re welcome to snap photos and capture video. We’ll also have a photographer documenting the day, but in fact, we’d love for you to take photos, record videos, and share them with us afterward—the more memories, the better! Please upload all your photos and videos to the shared Google Photos album! https://photos.app.goo.gl/SRrdpjv2giLXEFiU7 or better yet, airdrop them to matthew or hanh [better quality!] Can I post on social media? Absolutely, tag away! (Bonus points if you make us look taller and slimmer.)

Question

Lunch Outfit?

Answer

Feel free to stay in your ceremony outfit. Lunch will be more laid-back and relaxed, so you’ll be comfortable either way.

Question

What's the vibe of the day?

Answer

Intimate, joyful, and stress-free. We just want to celebrate love with our favorite people (that’s you!). Think heartfelt ceremony, timeless photos, and a cozy meal together. No big production, just genuine moments, laughter, and togetherness.

Question

Is there a reception after the ceremony?

Answer

We’d love for you to join us at Scoma’s for a relaxed lunch/brunch gathering. It’s not a formal reception, just a cozy, heartfelt meal with our favorite people to celebrate love and togetherness. Sorry boys & girls, there's no dance floor. We’re keeping it simple. Think more champagne toasts and laughter than dance floor.

Question

Seating

Answer

City Hall only allows 40 chairs, so we’re reserving the front rows for family and the wedding party. Friends, you may need to stand—but don’t worry, the ceremony will be short and sweet. What about the lunch at Scoma’s? Seating there will be assigned, so everyone will have a spot to relax, eat, and celebrate with us.

Question

Will there be a dance or afterparty?

Answer

Nah...we’re keeping it light and casual. Not your typical wedding reception. After all, it’s a Tuesday. As for the afterparty? A nap. And yes, we’re serious. Pajamas > Party shoes.

Question

Do you have a gift registry?

Answer

Your presence truly means the most to us! But if you’d like to contribute, we’ve set up a Newlywed Fund to help us kick off married life. No toaster ovens, please—we already have one. We promise to spend it on more than matcha and Trader Joe’s runs.
