We met when I first arrived in New Zealand, a few hours after my flight landed. Emma’s first thought when she saw me was, “oh no, he looks REALLY tired.” Emma and her flatmate Laura made me dinner on my first night in a new country. The next day Emma saw a spider and exclaimed that it looked “CUTE.” I said that she was crazy and she laughed at me. That was the start of our friendship and over two and a half years later I am thrilled to be marrying my best friend!
Matt and I have spent most of our relationship long distance. After I came to visit him in the US we realised that we didn’t want to be apart again. We agreed to spend a week praying separately about what we should do. At the end of the week we had both decided that we wanted to get married. A few days later we went to the river where we first went for a walk together in Birmingham. Matt gave me a letter to read. When I had finished reading he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him (officially). Clearly, I said yes! Even though we haven’t given ourselves much time to plan the wedding, we know that God has planned this all along. Our relationship hasn’t felt rushed by our circumstances and God has provided generously through the kindness of our friends and family. I am so thankful for all your encouragement and support and I’m so excited to be marrying Matt!
