Casey POV: It was my first day in the office and I walk by Matt's cubicle and thought "Man he is good looking, he looks like trouble though". After a year of having a love/hate relationship in the office with Matt I finally came to the conclusion that I really did like him. I invited him LAST to the weekend brunch with coworkers I planned unsure of his feelings towards me. I said "he is either going to be my best friend for life OR I am going to marry him". Lucky for me I didn't have to decide because I got both! Matt POV: Where to begin... Casey instantly caught my eye and attention when she had first started in the sales office. Who was this exuberant new girl? Where does she get off from emitting all of this confidence? Little did I know that these traits would make me fall in love with my best friend. There was a rumored brunch taking place one Saturday that I had caught wind of through the grape vine. Upset that I wasn't initially invited, I almost declined out of spite. Best decision I have ever made was to attend that brunch. I've been hooked ever since!
Now anyone who knows Casey, knows she is a planner and anyone that knows Matt knows he likes to wing it. So when Matt tried to devise the engagement plan he enlisted a little help from Casey's sister to throw Casey off. The plot: Danielle and her boyfriend were coming to DC and her boyfriend never saw the monuments before so the game plan was to go to the National Mall and walk around. Casey tried numerous times to get out of going to the National Mall as she had been there many times and even suggested meeting them for lunch. She was met with a hard NO from both Danielle and her mother Jamie that she complained to about it. (Mamma June knew all along too!) The ploy: Casey finally agrees to go but says at least they have to see the Jefferson and the FDR memorial since she has never been. From the time they left the apartment EVERYONE was acting weird which Casey luckily didn't catch on. Nobody would walk near Casey when they were walking the National Mall. The PROPOSAL: When the group finally reached the Jefferson Monument, Matt asked Casey to take a picture in front of the Tidal Basin. Casey even joked to Matt "oh you never want to take pictures". Little did Casey know that Matt was down on one knee with the ring. Nobody remembers what was said and it all remains a magical blur. However the celebration did not end there... The AFTER PARTY: Casey was overwhelmed and so excited all she wanted to do was call her mom but Matt said to wait until they got to the bar where we would do a champagne toast. As they get to the bar which is on the top floor of the W Hotel in DC overlooking all the monuments in a private section in the back is Casey and Matt's family waiting to celebrate. One of the best surprises of the day! (besides the engagement of course)
