Travel Note
In addition to hotels, you're welcome to explore other lodging options like Airbnb or VRBO—these can be great choices for groups or longer stays. Some vacation rentals even come with a golf cart, which is a fun and convenient way to get around the island (however, not necessary)

Ferries to Catalina Island depart from three main ports: San Pedro, Long Beach, and Dana Point. (Matt and I took the Long Beach ferry ourselves, and we found it very easy!) A Few Important Tips: - Book your ferry tickets as soon as possible; our wedding falls during peak season, and tickets do sell out. - If you're prone to motion sickness, we recommend bringing dramamine or another motion sickness remedy to make the ride more comfortable. - Ferry ride is about 1 hour long. - Keep your eye out for dolphins and whales :) For ferry schedules and tickets, visit CatalinaExpress.com
Travel Note
Flying to an airport near one of the Catalina Island ferry terminals is absolutely possible! Best Option: Long Beach Airport (LGB) — closest and most convenient for the Long Beach ferry (about a 20-minute car ride). Alternative: Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) — farther away and requires a longer transfer to the ferry terminals in Long Beach or San Pedro. When we visited, we flew from Oakland to Long Beach (1.5-hour flight) and took a quick Uber to the Long Beach Ferry - smooth, easy, and perfect for those who prefer not to drive or are flying from out of state.

Travel Note
Avalon is the only city on Catalina Island - this means the whole city is walkable! Transportation in Avalon is primarily limited to golf carts, walking, taxi service, and electric shuttles. For longer distances or specific tours, there are charter buses and trolleys.
