We're Getting Married!!!

It all started during Matt and Caelyn’s senior year of high school when they had physics together—right after their open period. Every day, Caelyn would trail behind Matt in the hallway, calling out his full name just to annoy him. Then, in class, she would take her seat right behind him. Caelyn hated physics, while Matt, on the other hand, loved it. Naturally, she tried to cheat off his work, but he wasn’t having it. In retaliation, she would click her pen at an obnoxiously fast pace—because she knew it drove him crazy. During that time, they started texting about homework, gradually getting to know each other. Over the holidays that year, they drifted apart for a while, but around Caelyn’s birthday, they reconnected. As they talked on the phone every day and played video games—thanks to COVID keeping them stuck at home—they grew closer and closer. On April 5th, 2020, Matt asked Caelyn to be his girlfriend. Since the pandemic was in full swing, they couldn’t see each other for the first month of dating. But when hiking areas finally reopened, they planned their first real date. Excited to finally spend time together, they set out to find the perfect trail—only to realize that everyone else had the same idea. Every single spot was packed, and they spent hours driving around, searching for somewhere less crowded. Eventually, they gave up on finding the perfect hiking trail and drove to a lake Caelyn used to visit all the time. Around the back of the lake, there was a quiet spot overlooking the entire area. They drove up there, away from the noise, just the two of them. And that’s where they shared their first kiss. From that day on, they were inseparable. Eventually, Matt stayed the night at the Campbell residence—and never left. They lived there for a little over a year before realizing they needed more space, so they moved into the Harchar residence, where they have been ever since. Then, in April of 2024, Caelyn discovered that Matt had secretly purchased a ring and had been hiding it from her for about a month. Once she found out, they had a conversation about it, and that’s when they officially decided—they were getting engaged! The first thing they did was drive to Caelyn’s house so Matt could ask Mark (and Wendy) for her hand. Then, they drove back to the very same spot where they had their first kiss. With the lake stretching out behind them, Matt got down on one knee and asked Caelyn to marry him. She, of course, said yes! Now, they share their lives with their two wonderful fur babies, Bailey and Tillie and their bearded dragon Marty. Matt has graduated from NJIT with a engineering degree, and Caelyn will be graduating this spring from Centenary University with a exercise science degree. With so many exciting things ahead, they are not only looking forward to finding a place of their own but also to finally saying "I do!" They can’t wait to start this next chapter as husband and wife and see what the future holds for them!
