Matthew & Brittany were nearly a mile apart for 20 years, spending every Christmas in the same town but never crossed paths. Even as their fates started to line up with a near introduction from Brittany’s best friend and Matthew’s fellow RA at NYU, it took another 4 months for them to finally match with a little help from a honeycomb based dating app. After fate finally brought them together, they spent a night texting on Matthew’s birthday, and then had their first meetup the next day at a bar. Just the two of them and 15 of Brittany’s closest friends. Despite Matthew battling a bartender’s over-serving from the night before during their first meet up, they planned their first date with just the two of them a few weeks later at 11th Street Bar in Manhattan the day before New Year’s eve. They followed that up with date number 2 on NYE and shared their first of many New Year’s kisses. After seeing each other for the rest of their senior year, they both moved full time into Manhattan with their friends, with Matthew starting his career and Brittany continuing her education getting her masters degree. A few years of dating with continuously changing distance between them, Matthew to various parts of New York City and Brittany working at her first job on Long Island, they finally decided to move in together into a small, overpriced apartment in Brooklyn Heights during the height of the pandemic. A few career changes later, they found themselves moving to New Jersey in 2023. Not ready to leave Brooklyn behind, Matthew made sure they could take one more walk on the Brooklyn Promenade with their favorite view of the city. And that’s where Matthew decided to make his best friend Brittany his partner for life, asking her to marry him. And that brings them to where they are now, preparing for their wedding and looking forward to celebrating with all of you.
